Why is my BlackBerry®
smartphone receiving email, but my desktop
PC is not receiving any messages?
This can happen for two reasons:
If you are forwarding email
to your BlackBerry® smartphone email address
from our server (user@isp.blackberry.net),
the option to leave a copy of the message
from the user’s web mail may not be
selected. Log into your web mail account and
verify in the Options menu
in the upper right hand corner that the server
is leaving copies of the messages on the server
for your desktop application to retrieve.
If you are using a pop collection
from your BlackBerry®, make sure it is
leaving copies of messages for the server
to retrieve.
The setting should be:
incoming server = pop1.deltacom.net
outgoing server = smtp1.deltacom.net (server
requires authentication)
Why am I having issues
receiving some attachments?
The email server is limited
to the current available space in the user’s
webmail account. If you leave copies of messages
on the server and 50% of your quota is utilized,
you are only able receive a document no greater
than the remaining 50% available quota. If
a user sends you an email greater than the
allotted account quota, they will receive
a bounce back error stating your account is
over quota. This limitation means that large
emails with or without attachments are limited
to the user’s available quota value.
What is the largest size
email I can send and to how many recipients?
SMTP constraints:
• Attachments are limited to 50MB per
email
• Maximum of 2500 characters in the
Recipient TO: field per email
• Maximum of 1500 characters in the
Recipient CC: field per email
• Maximum of 300 Characters in the Recipient
BCC: field per email
• Authenticated SMTP will allow 200
recipients at most on a single message (per
user).
As the administrator
on the domain, where do I access my administrative
function?
Access the admin link from our
web page by following the links or you can
use the direct link: http://deltamail.deltacom.net/madmin
What administrative actions
can the assigned administrative user perform?
The assigned administrative
user on the domain can add/delete users, create
global message filters, change/reset user
passwords, create distribution lists and set
user quota values.
How do I access my web
mail?
There is a login link for web
mail access on the www.deltacom.com web page
or use the following URL http://deltamail.deltacom.net.
Your username is your full email address (user@mydomain.com)
and the password assigned to your account.
Why is my bookmark to
the web mail login not working?
We adjusted the link to carry
you to the correct login page, but if for
some reason the link you bookmarked still
does not work, you can locate the web mail
log in page from the link above or the Deltacom
webpage. After locating the login page, remove
your old bookmark and add this new page.
Standard Edition Web mail/Calendar
operates without issue in IE8 Release Candidate
1 (RC1). Corporate Edition (Web mail/WebCal)
exhibits some cosmetic issues in IE8. To correct
these issues, an IE8 user can enter a website
URL (such as their mailserver’s URL)
to operate in Compatibility Mode (under TOOLS>
COMPATIBILITY VIEW in IE8). An IE8 user can
also select the DISPLAY ALL WEBSITE IN COMPATIBILITY
VIEWoption, establishing the setting for all
websites and not just the mail server.
We are working to ensure that
web mail is fully compatible with IE8. and
support is planned for inclusion in upcoming
Messaging Operating System (MOS) releases.
What should my MX record
be pointing to and why?
Your MX record is the road map
to our email server to enable users to find
your email account. Without a valid MX record,
your email will not hit our servers to be
delivered to your users’ accounts. We
have the correct settings information listed
on our webpage. If we support your email but
your MX record is not pointed to the settings
we have provided, you may not receive email
because of this error. The server IP prior
to the migration was 165.212.65.113. If your
MX record points to this IP, you should change
it to 72.243.252.244 or mail1.Deltacom.net.
All users who are using Deltacom as their
DNS provider have the correct MX record. If
another provider hosts your DNS and you are
not receiving email, you may want to have
the MX record verified for accuracy.
To how many recipients
can one email be sent?
A single email can be sent to
no more than 250 recipients. Lists of more
than 250 addresses have to broken down to
the limited number.
What is the largest size
email that the server will send?
The server is limited to 32MB
on out going email. Anything larger than this
has to be separated if possible or zipped
up to compress the size if the value is
due to an attachment.
What is the largest size
email that I can receive in my box?
The user’s overall quota
or the global quota on the domain and its
available free space determines this value.
If an individual user has a mailbox quota
of 25mb, as long as there is no usage of this
allotted value, the user can receive a 25mb
file. If the user is set up under the global
quota on the domain, they can receive an email
within the limits of the unused available
space size (example: 500mb global quota -
200MB of used space on the server = 300mb
available, thereby allowing the user to receive
a single email in size up to 300mb).
